 The Full Moon in October is traditionally called   the Hunter’s Moon, but is also referred to  as the Traveler’s Moon, Dying Moon or Dying Grass Moon. The traditional names for this Autumn Full Moon are fairly self-explanatory. The October Full Moon rises in the sky at dusk and sets at sunrise, making it the only day of the month when Moon remains in the sky throughout the entire night. 

Throughout Western Europe, and among America’s First Nations, the October Full Moon is typically so large and bright, it was considered an auspicious night for hunting game, and also probably one of the last chances to do so before winter hit in full force.

This Moon's  illumination was so strong, it made evening  or overnight journies much easier, guiding weary travelers safely to their destinations.

This month, the Hunter’s Moon is officially full on October 16, at 12:23 am GMT, however, the Moon always appears full a day before and after it’s peak fullness. So, in California (where we are located) the Full Hunter’s Moon will rise in the evening sky on October 15, at 9: 25pm PST.

Every Full Moon throughout the year has the potential to inspire odd or erratic behavior-just ask anyone who works as a First Responder or bartender. Astrologically speaking, the Hunter’s Moon of October 16, 2016 is an Aries Full Moon; which means all of the above…and then some!

 During the  two or three days before and after the 2016 Hunter’s Moon is at it’s peak, the traits of the Zodiac sign Aries  (and it’s ruling planet Mars) will affect the general population at least to some degree.  Mars was the Roman god of war, so there could possibly be uncharacteristic displays of aggression or conflicts with authority during this Full Moon. 

Also   good to note: emotional or ego-driven impulses could seriously affect your feelings and impair your objectivity, leading to quarrels, especially in couples. Try to keep your energy balanced and peaceful,  be sure edit your thoughts before speaking, and  it would help to keep stress  as minimal as possible.

 Any Full Moon is an optimal time for manifesting your goals. Write them down, keep them in your  head and heart. Say them aloud as affirmations.

 The light of the  Full Moon  can also be used to cleanse and charge your crystals, divination and magical tools.  Simply leave your objects in a safe spot outdoors all night long. If you're an apartment dweller,  a balcony or windowsill  works just fine.

 We are both such confirmed lunatics our  yards will be littered with crystals, pendulums, divination rods  and Tarot decks, and it’s  safe to say  we’re both  gonna be howlin’  at the moon all weekend long.
